Biography

Alessandra Ambrosio was born on April 11, 1981 in Erechim, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Alessandra grew up in a small Brazilian town in which her parent owned a petrol station. By the age of 8, Alessandra knew she wanted to be a model after she spent hours a day looking at magazines and all the models and thinking about how she wanted to look just like them.

At age 12 Alessandra enrolled herself in modeling classes where she would learn the tricks of the trade. At the age of 15 she started modeling for Dilson Stein. She entered several modeling contests and slowly began to work her way up in the industry.

Her first big break came when Alessandra was asked to be on the cover of the Brazilian Elle magazine. She got quite a lot of attention from this cover spread that she soon moved on to modeling for the millennium GUESS range. Since then Alessandra continued to hit the jack pot by scoring major modeling gigs with top brands like Revlon, Christian Dior, Giorgio Armani, Rolex, Oscar de la Renta, Gucci, Escada, Rocco Barocco, Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren.

Over the years she has done tremendous work on the runways of some of the leading fashion designers, some of them being the like of , Christian Lacroix, Byblos, Fendi, Issey Miyake, Kenzo, Christian Dior, Nicole Miller, Ralph Lauren, Giorgio Armani, Vivienne Westwood and Oscar de la Renta.

It was until the year 200 when Alessandra first walked the runways of a Victoria’s Secret fashion show where she truly felt like she was home. Over the years Alessandra has done great work with Victoria’s Secret and was even signed on to be the first spokesperson of the PINK line by Victoria’s Secret.
